Just when I didn’t know what the next TOP 3 blog post would be about, I reach into my extended memory which is better known a flash drive and found a topic am very familiar with. Dancing. Not the random dancing that can be seen on iCarly (please don’t ask me if I watch this show. You may receive a mysterious answer. )

But the type of dancing that makes you enthusiastically say, “Did you see that move! I wish I could do that!” The only show that I have found to warrant this emotional response is: America’s Best Dance Crew. If you have not seen the show, today I introduce you to the TOP 3 : ABDC Dance Crews.

Street Kingdom

I was a little upset with Street Kingdom. I’ve watched them dance in Rize, so I know how talented they are. If anyone deserved to win Season 6 they did because they fought so hard to overcome their circumstances. Surviving in South Central L.A. is not easy due to the amount of violence they have to live through everyday. Krumping became their escape. It gave them hope. Unfortunately, they were not able adapt as well as they should have on stage. In spite of their loss, I still love Street Kingdom and all they are doing to make a difference in their community.

Beat Freaks

As an all female dance crew Beat Freaks continually amazed me on ABDC season 3. I was rooting for them to win, but they were beat out by Quest Crew. Here’s a clip of Beat Freaks dancing during the Illusion challenge. This is hands down one of the most impressive routines I have seen in ABDC’s history.

Jabbawockeez

Many talented dance crews have graced the stages of America’s Best Dance Crew since being founded by Randy Jackson. But, Jabbawockeez has always been among my favorites. While Jabbawockeez, is not first on this post, they will always be able to say they were the first crew to win ABDC.

Since I last posted about TOP 3: Politicians behaving badly, I figured why not checkout the home front to see what comes to light…After listening to Oklahoma’s  House of Representative half of this legislative session I had somewhat of an idea who would make this list so any of the names below don’t come as a surprise.

And the #1 politician’s behaving badly spot goes to:

Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern  has often been a controversial politician who has received

national attention due to comments  made on hot topic issues.

1.) State Rep. Sally Kern-  On more than one occasion, Kern’s slip of the tongue has offended many people across the nation. First, with her homophobic remarks. Then with her remarks about women and minorities. Kern has  been reprimanded for her remarks.  I believe the single most important thing that can be taken away from Kern and the hurtful comments she has made is,  just because you have the right to say something, it does not mean that something should be said.

2.) State  Rep. Randy Terrill – While Terrill may seem like a passionate politician,  his actions and behavior have been called in question.  Terrill is currently being investigated for questionable election activity.  He has also been reprimanded for “threatening”  the speaker of the House Kris Steele. Terrill has also made accusations of  other politicians  engaging in illicit activity such as having sex and drinking activity while on the job.

3.) As for number 3…it seems as if most other politicians who have behaving badly has managed to keep their deeds under raps. So, I’ll leave the number three nomination up for grabs. There may be  someone you feel is most deserving of a TOP 3 nomination under this category.

Do I really have to?, may have been the first line that popped into my head as we—as in  we the 2011 summer interns of  the Oklahoma Publishing Company—sat through orientation and were informed about blogs. On second thought, that may not have been the exact line. Who knows…I surely don’t. In my mind I quote “IN MY MIND” it seems like a great first line to break the ice.  Although in this scorching Oklahoma  heat,  in the midst of Spring, there is not much ice to break.

My plan this summer is blog about all the TOP 3 “things” on my invisible list. All that I will write about (please don’t make me sign a contract, please don’t make me sign a contract) has everything to do with much ado about nothing. No pun intended.

On a serious note, blogging will more than likely provide an outlet for me to de-stress and have fun since I will be working in NewsOk’s Watchdog department, which is part of their investigative team.

To kick of the 1st of what I hope are many blog post I would like to share with you, my TOP 3:  Things I hope to accomplish at OPUBCO.

1.)    I hope to walk away with 10 things for my portfolio.

2.)    I want to learn a new skill to enhance my marketability as a multimedia journalist.

3.)    I want to learn the basics of SEO. (In my defense, everything presented in orientation that one time was too complicated at that moment. Since I’ve mentally prepared myself, it should be easier next time around if I ever get to it.)

Sadly, I have only been to one concert in my lifetime and I only remember leaving the Ford Center in Oklahoma with seriously impaired hearing.

CNN. It would mean my aspiration of becoming an International Correspondent had become a reality at which point I would be able to set my goals higher:)

Fighting with Conviction

Every Friday, the feeling of inadequate sleep and the long  45 minute drive through the country side seem unimportant. Even the battle to find one parking space at a big 12 university becomes the second string on  the fiddle. This all because of the Multimedia Journalism Class I am taking at the University of Oklahoma’s Gaylord College. Today, our class had the opportunity to hear from one of our professor’s on Skype since he is serving as an embed with the 101 first airborne division overseas and teaching the class. As he spoke about how he and his son had thought they might have to exit the car they were in, due to the possibility of a violent protest,it served as a reminder that this war is all too real and in the blink of an eye someone could lose a father, a mother, a son, a daughter, or someone who matters.  And today is marred even further by the memory of those who life became lifeless and etched in the memory of  a nation affected by 9/11.

This week I will be working on an article I’m writing about Gubernatorial candidate Mary Fallin. The amazing thing is, it will definitely be one for the history books. Just as the United States of America chartered a path unknown by electing Barack Obama president, Oklahoma will be electing its first female government. It is also only the 3rd time in U.S. history that only women have been on the ballot to run for, a political position. While treading new grounds, I will have the opportunity to make an impression as  journalist. As exciting as it is, the moment is also a bit bitter considering the fact that it has been 162 years since Women suffrage movement began…just something to consider.
